Runråd 63: 6th Full-Day Runic Colloquium, Harvard University

Tid: 2014-03-12, Hela dagen

Status and Identity

We are happy to announce that the sixth full-day Runic colloquium, will take place on March 12, 2014 at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts – the first Rune Rede (Swed. runråd) to be held outside Scandinavia. The theme will be Status and Identity, and the colloquium is aimed at academic scholars and serious students of runology. We expect the Rune Rede to last from about 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event is part of the cooperation between Harvard University and Uppsala University and it is hosted by Scandinavian Studies at the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures, Harvard University.

Registration and Call for papers

At the moment, we ask all participants to be prepared to pay a $25 fee towards the cost of the seminar. We do, however, have reason to believe that we will be able to cover all costs by March, so the fee is just an extra precaution. The date is chosen so that those attending the SASS/AABS conference at Yale March 13–15 will be able to participate in both events with as little extra cost or inconvenience as possible. The train from Boston’s South Station (on the same subway line as Harvard) to New Haven only takes about 2 hours and is a very pleasant journey.

Everyone interested in participating is welcome to contact the organizers at runforum@nordiska.uu.se; be aware that space is limited!

We must have the titles of proposed papers (20–30 minutes depending on the number presented) no later than February 1st. Other prospective participants need to notify us before February 15.

Maja Bäckvall and Henrik Williams
